Our Facility
Small Freys was established in May of 1987 and, after a devastating fire in December of 1998, we rebuilt and moved into a state-of-the-art facility in November of 1999. The owner and director of Small Freys, Barbara Frey, is a certified Early Childhood/Elementary teacher.
Our Locations
Small Freys is located on the south side of Market Square in Manheim, PA. The location provides convenient access to local businesses and is en route to adjacent communities.
Keystone Stars
Small Freys uses the Keystone Stars Program to structure its program based on its philosophy and Star goals . We have chosen not to apply for the various star levels at this time due to the uncertainty of the Keystone Star Program and the State Budget education cuts. This in no way means we choose to lessen the quality within our center.
Our Fees & Services
Small Freys provides a flexible fee schedule, offering full-time, part-time and drop-in care. Fees vary based on age and amount of care needed. An annual registration fee and a security deposit are required. Sibling discounts are available. Some people ask why our fees may be higher than other local centers. Our pricing is based on the cost it takes to serve your child in the type of facility and program we offer. Most programs in our immediate vicinity do not have the same type of overhead expenses that our program does. We believe in a clean facility with plenty of space; materials for learning; opportunities to enhance your child's development; and staff who have your child and family's best interest.

Small Freys Children Center, Inc strives to improve the quality of family and children in our society to prepare them for the success and accomplishment of everyday tasks, which they experience and to build upon their dreams and place in society.
Small Freys Children Center, Inc, directed and owned by an Early Childhood professional, empowers the vision of childhood dreams through:
· Maintaining licensing standards from the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare;
· Using the structure and philosophy of the PA Keystone Stars Program;
· Building upon the goals, philosophy and guidelines from High/Scope Curriculum;
· Encouraging the dedication and vast experiences of staff to build upon the quality of direction provided to your families and;
· Valuing parents and community to fulfill and enrich children’s lives.
Within our doors, you will feel a sense of community and togetherness where children will engage in play and learning through interactions with others, adults, children and community, and experience their environment. Children will be encouraged through their own individual interests and feel safe, secure and successful while participating at the center.
Families are important at our center and we value the diversity of all families that can offer our center inspiration. We feel your family is an extension of our family, so we hope you will share with us and participate in events that build community and fulfill the experiences your child will have while attending our center.
